| Cleaning |
 General
cleaning can be arranged on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly
basis depending on the needs of the client. It can include
vacuuming, dusting, cleaning floors, cleaning bathrooms
and kitchens, cleaning INSIDES of windows, insides of
fridges and microwaves etc. Clients can instruct their
allocated carer to do specific jobs each week or leave
the cleaning to their workers discretion. In this instant
Helping Hands policy is that every area of the home is
given the appropriate attention, no one area of a clients
home should be left unattended for too long – some
jobs need doing every week and others need doing less
often. |

| “One Off”
Spring Cleans |
 This
service is offered to people who require a very labour
intensive clean. Perhaps a client is moving into a property
or out of a property and they need a “blitz”
clean. It is also very popular for the elderly who have
maybe been left to their own devices for a little too
long and the standard of cleanliness in their homes is
not what it should be. A spring clean is enough to get
the home back up to scratch and sometimes paves the way
for a client to book a regular cleaning slot so things
never deteriorate and are always manageable. |

| Laundry |
 Laundry
involves washing, ironing and also changing bed linen,
a task that can be extremely difficult for an elderly,
disabled or convalescing person. |

| Shopping |
 For
many clients who may struggle to get out (especially during
the cold winter months) it is possible to arrange for
somebody to call in, pick up a shopping list and go and
collect the shopping On some occasions a client may just
like somebody to accompany them shopping as they may be
a little nervous to go on their own; this can also be
arranged. |

| Companionship
for the Elderly |
 Especially
used by clients who do not have any close relatives or
they do not have friends or relatives living close by.
Some elderly just require some company occasionally, somebody
to call in, check they are OK, perhaps read mail or the
paper to them, play cards or make a cup of tea and chat.
This is a very reassuring service for both client and
relatives of clients. Both client and relative can relax
in the knowledge that somebody is calling in to check
all is well and also alleviate any loneliness that some
elderly people experience from time to time. |

| General Garden
Maintenance |
 Helping
Hands can supply a worker to carry out lawn mowing, weeding,
pruning and general tidying of gardens. Like the cleaning
this can be on a regular basis or on an “ad hoc”
required basis.
NB. This is not a landscaping service. |

| Accompanied Appointments |
| It is possible to arrange for somebody employed
by Helping Hands to accompany a client to a doctor, hospital
or any other appointment. This can be a local appointment
or an out of area appointment (if practically possible
and with notice). |

| Assisted Appointment
Arranging |
It can be very distressing for and elderly
or infirm client to have something go wrong in their homes
and worry what to do. Helping Hands offers a service whereby
arrangements and appointments can be made with utility
providers, workmen etc to deal with the problem experienced
by the client. This takes away any stress or worry experienced
by them as a result of being, for example, put through
to call centres, being unable to hear or comprehend as
they are a little deaf, forgetting what has been said
during a conversation or that they may ultimately be inviting
somebody into their home whom they neither know nor may
be able to trust.
 This
service can also make it possible for Helping Hands to
arrange to have one of its employees attend a clients
home at the time of a scheduled visit so that the client
is not left to deal with a work person on their own which
they may find intimidating. |

| A small charge is made to the
client for making the call to the contractor and arranging
an appointment. If a client requires an employee of Helping
Hands to be present when contractor calls, this is charged
at normal hourly rate. |
(NB. The insurance of Helping
Hands would not cover any work carried out by a workman
but the Company would check that valid insurance is
in place for anybody they refer a client to)
